The 1950s

Daughters Shirley and Helen were married husbands ina double marriage ceremony 2 July 1950 in Des Moines.

Shirley married Arthur Beryl Cloud; his parents were Arthur Beryl Cloud and Marie Spillman. Children of this union included: Tamia Jo; Thomas Arthur; and Marla Sue. Shirley passed away on 24 May 2000.

Helen and Robert Maurice Junod, son of Paul Amos Junod and Laura Elizabeth Viline, had five children, including Stanley Lee, Steven Robert, Sharon Kay, Susan Lynn, and Scott Kenneth. Helen died on 24 December 2003, less than one month before her mother.

Kenneth had returned to work at the foundry in the fall of 1945, though he later quit and bought a small gas station.  After only a few months, he decided to return to work at the foundry and later sold the gas station.  Kenneth worked at the foundry for a total of twenty-six years by the time he retired in about 1951.

Kenneth’s mother, Eva Hyde Jones, died on 26 February 1959 in Albia, Iowa, from postoperative pneumonia. She was interred beside her husband in Oak View Cemetery, in Albia.
